Villnöss/Funes Valley, Dolomites, Alps, Italy

"Geislerspitzen/Le Odle"

This is a wonderful little mountain pasture high above the valley. One of my favourite places there. The small abandoned hut was formerly owned by a shepard.
The weather was great for photography. Numerous different clouds, proper wind constantly effecting change of light and cloud formations. Hoping that the sky would clear a little bit maybe letting some light pass I waited for some minutes. When light appeared I was prepared and had composed the panorama. I liked how the mountains were half in the shadow and half illuminated. The clouds did a nice movement towards the mountains.
Landscape photography is all about being prepared for the right moment.

This is a panorama of three verticals.

fantastic tones and drama. i like the way the white blades of grass all reach for the powerfully striped mountains.

Thanks a lot. That's what I like about the photo. It seems to receive so much resonance here but personally it is one of my favourite photos due to the drama and the tones you mention.
The light was quite special and i was lucky to be there at that moment.
It's nice to hear that it has a certain effect..thanks!!

Impressive and dramatic. I like the composition, and I feel that the use of mono is a bold decision. It really works. I think it has more impact than it would have had in colour.

Indeed, I noticed after reading your comments, looked like a fisheye at first sight. Great composition and contrast :)
